Thanks for a great 2024 season!
We are now closed for the winter. We look forward to seeing you again in 2025.
**Please note, if you have never been to our lessons, you are starting at a level 1. We build every class on the previous levels and we need to see your child can successfully pass those foundations. Thank you for understanding.

Why SwimAmerica?
#1 Learning to swim is not just an activity, it is an important life skill.
Not knowing how to swim is one of the major risk factors in drowning. Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of accidental death in children under 18 years old. Centers for Disease Control
#2 SwimAmerica’s success is a reflection of our professional approach to teaching swimming.
We are certified professional coaches who actively teach and coach. We are “swimming pros”, similar to tennis or golf pros. We are the swimming experts.
#3 We consistently produce great swimmers.
We use our own skill progressions for water safety skills and stroke development. Our goal is to have your child swimming 300 yards of freestyle confidently before completing the program. A graduate of the program will be proficient in competitive strokes as well as safety strokes and flip turns.
#4 The Impact of Learning to Swim Well Will Last a Lifetime
Our coaches have been teaching and coaching for years. We know how to make learning to swim easier. We are the pros at training children to be strong confident swimmers.
Why You’ll Love Us
SwimAmerica was developed for three basic reasons:
- Safety
- Fitness and Health
- Opportunity and Fun
“We joined Swim America San Diego for our 4 and 7 year old girls and LOVED IT! After just a few short lessons, we can tell their confidence and swim skills have improved significantly. Both Erin and Brent are fantastic instructors and very patient in the water. They provided a calm and safe learning environment for the girls to thrive. We’re definitely returning in the Spring for more lessons and recommend it to anyone. “

“As our kids are a little older (ages 9 & 6), we really wanted them to learn water safety. But for 2 working parents, it’s been hard to get them to regular (& frequent) swim lessons. So we were stoked when Swim America San Diego opened up around the corner from us! We’re so glad our kids have the opportunity for more focused attention in the lessons they’ve had so far. Erin and Brent both made it fun & and the kids actually *remembered* what they learned!! They’ve been patient and understanding with our initially shy kiddos, and by the end of class, the kids enjoyed themselves! Looking forward to continuing lessons at our neighborhood swim school!”

“My 4 year old had the pleasure of being a part of Swim America San Diego. He was definitely nervous and I let Brent (his instructor) know his fear of getting his face wet and being in the water in general. Brent was so patient and understanding. He comforted my little guy and ended up having him crab-walk across the entire pool! I was so proud of him. Brent continually communicated with him and really worked with his fear of water. Erin (the other instructor) was also in the pool with older kids. The communication between Brent & Erin was wonderful. They each made sure their specific group was getting exactly what they needed. The location is in a wonderful spot, in their backyard on a quiet street. The pool itself was well designed and gives plenty of space for the instructors and their groups. Groups are 3 max per instructor giving individual time and attention to each. I am looking forward to my son being a part of this amazing team. “

How can my household of multiple children be in the same class?

What is your registration process?
Our registration is open, so you may register at any time you see an opening that fits your schedule. To register, you will create an account under the sign up section, where you will enter your contact, student(s) and payment information. Lesson fees are paid by class. After you register, you will receive a welcome email with all the information you should need to get started. If you do not get an email, please reach out to us.
What can I expect on my child’s first day of class?
On your child’s first day of class, we make a thorough assessment of each child’s skills so that they are placed in the appropriate “level” . You can expect your child to spend a lot of time learning proper breathing techniques the first few days of class. Good breathing is the KEY to good swimming. A child who has not learned how to breathe properly tires more quickly in the water. We will spend a lot of time working on bobs and other breathing exercises at all of our SwimAmerica levels.
What is the SwimAmerica Station Method?
SwimAmerica lessons are levels of skill development and stroke progression. Once a child masters the skills and “advancement goals” of each level, they “move-up” to the next level and begin working on more advanced skills. This way, each student progresses at their own rate – which we believe is the best way to keep kids motivated to succeed.
How quickly will my child advance through the stations?
This varies greatly depending on each child’s age, athleticism and natural comfort level in the water. It may take a few weeks or more for a very young child to progress beyond Station 1. We will NOT advance a child before they have mastered the skills of their first level. Remember, proper breathing is the key to successful swimming! On average, it takes a preschooler 20 or more lessons to advance to station 3. On the other hand, some preschoolers will advance much more quickly – it all depends on the individual child!
What is my role as a parent?
Make sure your child comes to class ready to learn, with a snug-fitting, comfortable bathing suit, towel, etc. Talk with your child about the advancement goals required at their station, and encourage them to do their very best. Don’t push, but praise them for their efforts. Please remain in the chairs or in your car during your child’s lessons. They are in good hands. Parents also coaching their child can distract both coaches and students from the job of learning to swim. Your help with this is appreciated.
What if my child needs to miss a lesson?
We currently a small operation and missing a class might mean a missed opportunity for another student. At this time we are requesting a 24 hour notice for cancelation. If you cancel in that timeframe, you will get a credit on your account. If you cancel under 24 hours, there will be no refund. Special consideration is always given in the event of medical emergencies – please email us directly in those situations.
Who do I contact to discuss questions about my child or the program?
You may send an email to Brent@swimamericasd.com and we will respond as quickly as possible. The coaches must stay focused on teaching during lessons, but they will be happy to contact you at your convenience.
I signed up and have your address, but I do not see a pool on google earth?
The pool is new, google earth has not caught up yet. We put it a pool during Covid – started in 2020 and completed in 2021.
